We had been considering a trip to South America for some time when we saw an advertisement in the AANR Bulletin for Colina Do Sol in Brazil. We decided this would be perfect. What better combination than a trip to Brazil with the advantages of a Naturist environment.
We went to Colina’s website and discovered an American couple, Fritz and Barbara, were operating a bed and breakfast there which catered to English speakers. We contacted them via the internet at doisamigosbandb@aol.com and arranged a one week stay the end of October, 2002.
On arrival in Porto Alegre, the closest major airport, we were met by Fritz and Barbara who transported us to Colina Do Sol, approximately 40 miles north of Porto Alegre.
The bed and breakfast is housed in a three story lodge like building, which is very comfortable and has a wonderful view of the valley below. The area has many acacia and eucalyptus trees. The eucalyptus is not native to Brazil but is planted as a source of lumber as the trees grown very rapidly, tall, and straight.
Colina Do Sol is located on a large tract of land. In addition to permanent homes of residents, there are a number of businesses located within the community, among them, a grocery store, souvenir shop, hardware store and the Central office.
In addition to the shops there are swimming pools, two lakes (one for swimming, one for fishing) and a white sand beach, a Center for Relaxation, Volleyball Court, a Camping area, the Beach Bar, and the Ocara Restaurant and Bar. Guests may be Nude in any part of the community, including the business locations, at any time.
There are many activities available in the communities surrounding Colina Do Sol such as Churrascarias, (Brazilian style barbecues), shopping at beautiful and modern shopping centers and malls, a variety of restaurants and entertainment, and extensive sightseeing. The very favorable ratio between the dollar and the Real makes shopping an especially attractive activity.
Our expectations were exceeded in every area. We are already planning another trip to Dois Amigos Bed and Breakfast in the spring. Our next trip will be longer and allow us to explore this beautiful area further. Definitely has retirement potential.
